PicoSure
Tattoo removal methods have evolved from potentially harmful treatments that often had painful and sometimes permanent side effects to less harmful methods with good results. Until the introduction of laser tattoo removal, people resorted to methods such as acid treatments, surgical excision and dermabrasion. PicoSure, the first dermatological device based on pico-second laser technology and the only one with the Alexandrite 755nm wavelength, often requires fewer treatments than traditional Q-Switched lasers.

You can't stop aging, but you can embrace it gracefully

The Benefits of Pico Lasers for skin pigmentation removal
Laser treatment for pigmentation is performed using hybrid technologies such as PicoSure. These treatments target pigmentation with precision, aiming to improve skin clarity with fewer sessions required. Pico lasers deliver ultra-short pulses of energy to break down pigment particles, which are then naturally cleared by the body.
PicoSure is the first picosecond laser available for aesthetic use and the only one with the Alexandrite 755nm wavelength, which has a higher affinity for melanin than other pico lasers and allows for precise targeting of pigmentation and tattoo ink.
FAQ
How long do results last?
With the Picosure Pro laser, results are both immediate and long-lasting. For example, those struggling with melasma can expect to see a significant decrease in their melanin index just 24 hours after treatment, and to see gradual improvements 3 weeks, 12 weeks, 20 weeks, and even a year after treatment. Clients who desire to rejuvenate their skin can also expect to see long-lasting results up till a year after treatment.
How many treatments will it take to give my patients optimal results
Most unwanted pigment will significantly lighten or clear in 2-3 sessions.
What Is The Focus Lens Array?
Recognised to be 20 times more powerful than normal lenses, the key part of PicoSure is the Focus Lens Array which allows a highly concentrated stream of energy to be emitted. This energy creates an impact (PressureWave) big enough to effectively hit and shatter pigments into pigment fragments which will be broken into even smaller pieces and eventually be carried away by the bloodstream. There will be a noticeable change in the texture and softness of the skin. This treatment is especially effective for acne scars and fine lines.
Is This Treatment Safe?
PicoSure laser therapies are FDA-approved and PicoSure’s ultra-fast pulses and specialised wavelengths work together to minimize the amount of heat transferred. Less heat means fewer chances for damage to occur to any surrounding skin, lessening the risks of injury. For this reason, PicoSure is extremely safe and can be applied to any area of the face and body.
What Is The Recovery Timeline Like?
Recovery timelines are dependent on the condition being treated and each patient’s ability to heal. Typical treatment intervals are 2 – 6 weeks for pigmented lesions and 6 – 8 weeks for tattoo removal. Treatments for acne scars and wrinkles using the Focus lens array can be performed every 3 – 4 weeks. Your treatment provider will create a personalized treatment plan for you.
Is There Anything I Should Do After Treatment?
The sun exposes the skin to harmful radiation. To protect the skin, the body produces extra melanin, causing the skin to tan. Since PicoSure targets melanin to remove excess pigment, a heavy tan may interfere with the treatment. The skin is more vulnerable to sunlight after PicoSure laser treatments for removal of tattoos and unwanted pigment so minimizing sun exposure and use of sunscreen of SPF30+ is recommended.
How Many Treatments Are Required?
- The number of PicoSure treatments for unwanted pigmentation will vary depending on the condition being treated and how each individual responds.
- For tattoo removal, the size, location and density of ink play important roles in how quickly clearance can be achieved, but 4 -10 treatments are common for modern tattoos.
- The number of treatments for skin revitalisation is largely dependent on the clinical condition being addressed but 2 – 5 treatments are common.
Our doctors will provide you with a personalised plan during your consultation, prior to commencing treatment.
