Subcision

Subcision

Subcision scars treatment is a surgical procedure used to treat deep facial scars that resulted from acne or skin injury. A special needle is used in this treatment to manually break down scar tissue that is depressed below the skin level. This treatment helps stimulate collagen growth, elevates the depressed scar and improves the overall appearance.

What type of scars are suitable for subcision?

  • Rolling acne scars
  • Chickenpox scars
  • Adhesive scars from injury or surgery
  • Deep wrinkles

What is the downtime?

Bruising and swelling may be seen immediately after the procedure and it may last from 4-7 days.

How many treatment sessions do I need?

Depending on the severity of the individual’s scars, subcision may be performed monthly. Other procedures may be recommended by our doctors to complement subcision to give the best results.

How much improvement can I see?

The majority of individuals show improvement in their acne scars by 1-2 grades after each treatment. There will be continued scar remodeling within 3 months after the subcision.
